There are so many essential oils available it can sometimes become overwhelming!  A good rule of thumb to those new to the world of oils is start small! Creating a home essential oil medicine / well-being  kit is a great way to start and Lavender is definitely an oil you would want to add.

Lavender is soothing, purifying, healing and balancing.  It helps to relieve negative emotions, eases stress and promotes restful sleep. If you are doing energy work, rituals, meditations or crystal healing work, Lavender would be a wonderful oil to reach for where you want a calm and healing atmosphere.

Lavender is a broad spectrum healer (Lavandula angustifolium) Lovely deep flora aroma that warms the heart and steadies the emotions. The most useful essence for therapeutic purposes, it fights infection, and eases muscular pain and headaches. Wonderful natural sedative for sleep problem.

USES:

Inhalation: put a few drops on your pillow at night to aid sleep, or a few drops on a tissue inside ones pillow case.  Add 2 to 3 drops to a bowl of hot water, inhale the steam deeply for about 5 minutes. You can also rub into palms, cup over ones nose and breathe in.

Neat: On cuts, scrapes and burns the healing/antiseptic properties soon relieve the pain and inflammation, infection.   Dab on insect bites to soothe itching.

Diffuse by adding a few drops to a aromatherapy diffuser or adding to water in a spray bottle.

Hair Care: add 5 to 8 drops of oil to 4oz of unscented shampoo or conditioner.

Massage: Add 7 to 12 drops to 2oz carrier oil and rub into stressed area.

PRECAUTIONS: Safe for small children.  Do not use if you have low blood pressure.
